In eCommerce, a metric is any quantifiable measurement of store performance. Organizations use metrics to track and analyze how their business is performing. The list of eCommerce metrics is long, ranging from average order value to conversion rate, cart abandonment rate, and many others.
Sometimes, a metric can also be used interchangeably with a KPI, but it is more general. For example, AOV is a metric but not a KPI. An AOV target of $100 is a KPI.
