What is SKU?

A scannable bar code, also known as a stock-keeping unit (SKU), is printed on product labels in retail stores. The label allows vendors to track inventory movement in real-time. An SKU is generally made up of an eight-character alphanumeric combination. It helps vendors automatically track the movement of the inventory, also used for providing sales data.
